The Jean Paul Gaultier Show at the Brooklyn Museum

I at last made it to Jean Paul’s show at the Brooklyn Museum and of course I  just loved it. There was not too much in the show about the 6 or 7 years that I worked with him as most of the show was after 1983 which is when I moved from Paris to the US. Needless to say my JP coat was not in the show (see above). I can not bear to  part with it and have repaired it numerous times with different materials. All the clothing I have from him from that time I still have, they are rather in tatters but living in downtown New York they still work, I don’t think that I would dare to wander round Paris in them. I’ll model my other clothes for you from that era at a later date.
The mannequins talking and singing with true facial movements is absolute Jean Paul genius. I just wish somehow that the rest of the show was able to capture his fun Felliniesque side that is so special and personal to him……Maybe it needed my makeup touch!  Linda
