My assistants and I have so much fun making up mini-masterpieces, trying to work to get as many colors as possible into a kit and it looks really great. The enjoyable part of making the kit really is choosing the colors and putting them into the mini-masterpiece. So, I have decided to no longer deprive my clients, I have set up a workspace for them; so that you may come in and play with the colors and make your own configuration.

Also, for all of our clients nationwide who are unable to visit us, we would like to inform you about a new service we are offering to mini masterpiece owners. Now, for a small fee, you can send us your mini masterpiece/ Betty compact to be cleaned and updated! The fee is $10 for the cleaning, plus shipping and any replaced product. Clients with more than one mini masterpiece/ Betty compact will receive the first cleaning free!

A few years ago German Vogue did a great collage of some pretty fabulous years from my life in fashion. The top left hand side is a blue dress from a great french designer Michel Tellin who I worked for in Paris in the early 70’s. Then, in the bottom right hand corner is the first piece I made when The Art of Beauty by Linda Mason opened, a hand silk screened sari. There are a few other designers on this page, can you guess who’s who? Stephen Sprouse, Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Biba to name a few.

My eyes are really getting bad, and looking at all the tiny writing on skin creams in the bathroom with out my glasses on is close to impossible. 1) Women have an inner line and outer line of their lip. The inner line is the one that is most apparent, and the outer line protrudes slightly. It’s often important to strengthen slightly the outer line of your upper lip for photos because it can disappear.

2) Scars are a part of life, there are two types of scars, light scars and dark scars. For dark scars you can use a concealer that is a couple shades lighter then your skin tone and tap on your everyday foundation if it needs further coverage. For light scars blend in a concealer that is slightly darker then your skin tone, and powdering over that will seal it for the day, and keep it looking discrete.

3) If you’ll be in the sun for labor day festivities, keep fresh by wearing a 30spf under your concealer. Wearing kingfisher or oceanic gel eyeliner sparily will brighten up any look, and won’t get ruined if you are eating corn on the cob or splashing around in the water.

It’s been incredible to hear all of the excitement that the parents express over discovering Linda’s portraits, and realizing the life long memento they can commission for their family. Beginning to meet the children has new meaning for me, now that I have my own baby boy Siraj. Also, it gave my mother more experience painting younger children, for my birthday she gave me a portrait of him at 2 months. She really captured his developing personality, and his eyes, which are such a central part of her portraits in general.

The classic portrait process begins with a photo session where Linda has a chance to take closeup shots of the childs eyes and face, as well as get to know them a bit. Then editing the photos begins and Linda, sometimes with the helps of her assistants, chooses 3 to 4 pictures that we think capture the childs personality best. After that, Linda works her magic on 18X24 inch canvas often incorporating the childs favorite colors. She always take care to make sure the family is totally satisfied with the results.
