Piano Graveyard

My first ever piano has been living at The Art of Beauty by Linda Mason for the past 14 years. It was a vintage piece we bought from someone living in the village in the 90’s, and my Mom brought it down originally thinking there might be an opportunity for live music. When she painted it white, after I had begged her not to, I refused to play it, and eventually she removed the back so she could use the entire instrument as a display. I do remember it falling out of tune quite frequently, so perhaps it’s not the end of the world that it’s not being played. One of my favorite products, the custom blend liquid bases are lined up below the painting. They really are a steal, as you get 2oz as opposed to the usual 1oz, and it’s custom blended! Going for just $59.

XOXO, Daisy

Home

I was living at home last October, and snapped a few shots of my Mom spontaneously as she was painting. I love catching her in action. She’s painting a portrait of one of Food Network’s Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond teenage girls, whose attic was redecorated by Robert and Cortney Novogratz. You can see the finished artwork this Saturday at 7pm E/P on HGTV’s show Home by Novogratz. Check it out!

Is It Organic?

I always make sure to buy organic food, and I do realize that the skin is our largest organ, but no, our makeup is not ‘organic.’ Neither are fumes you breath from the NYC streets, or the dirt and dust you wash off your body everyday when you shower. The paint you use if you’re an artist, the dyed clothes you wear, and the fragrance you spritz on. Makeup has important regulations, and as a small company we work closely with our manufacturers and use ourselves as guinea pigs. Living is a risk, don’t deprive yourself, make yourself look beautiful, it only takes a color or two to enhance your looks and feel good. Believe me you’re contributing to your friends and loved ones as well. And drink a green smoothie, it will negate any ill effects from the .0001 ounce of makeup you just applied.

Thalita’s Tips

1) To ensure no lipstick on your teeth during sticky summer days. Close your lips around your thumb, and pull it out to remove all excess lipstick.

2) Own your freckles! Apply SPF 30 or more before putting on a light concealer, not to cover them, but to keep them the perfect size. Remember they are fresh, flirtatious and fun.

3) Using a waterproof eyeliner applied between the lashes, and around the eye, will help keep the sun out of your eyes and you looking fabulous. Try our Graffitigels by Linda Mason, purchase through either our website or get a summer deal on QVC.com (search Linda Mason,) which includes our two top selling colors and the perfect brush to apply them.

Xoxo,
Thalita

Best Gift Ever!

On my birthday I received a ‘card-on-canvas’ from my Mom. One of her epic portraits, this one of my newborn. Usually her commissions aren’t for babies so small, but they range from toddlers through every age. In fact everyday when Siraj, my baby, comes to work at the shop he smiles at Linda’s Logo painting, as if she’s a friendly woman he likes to see. It just goes to show how much character and life she infuses into each individual piece. I’ve seen wives be absolutely over the moon surprised by thoughtful anniversary commissions from their husbands, having asked for a multimedia piece or abstract done of the woman they love. Or Fathers walk in to see a portrait of their beloved child, a moment in their quickly changing lives captured on canvas. For inquiries about portrait processes and prices call 212-625-0490.

A personal statement- Mini Masterpiece

Just the way that a work of art can tie a room together a Mini Masterpiece can complete you.  Purchasing a Mini Masterpiece is like curating your own purse.  Natalie chose one of the first Mini Masterpieces I made, one with a  reshaped mirror. Look how perfectly the compact and colors suit her . The Airliner ( violet) accentuates her beautiful almond shaped eyes and also enhances the color. The delicate rose blush  just gives a gentle hint of color to the cheeks and the yellow gloss and orange lipcolor bring warmth. If you like this color combination then you will love our Sagittarius kit ,which just happens to be Natalies sign. Yesterday we were giving out gloss  for purchases of over $50 so Natalie received an Airgloss. Stay tuned for more about our Summer Saturdays.

black&white

Last weekend Thalita and I redecorated a corner in the boutique. We’ve been moving towards a black and white theme, with touches of  color, to bring together our packaging of the Betty blushes, Betty compacts, brush rolls, and Graffitigels with the shop image. Betty is the design above the vanity. Come in and try one of our vibrant waterproof Graffitigels for summer!
