Thalita is a typical Aquarius- unique, unusual, and wonderfully sociable. I asked her to freshen up our Aquarius makeup harmonies and noticed this fabulous nail color she was wearing. Look how well these colors go with her makeup kit… She had mixed two colors, a pale blue together with a glitter nail polish. Don’t they look fabulous?

I came in today, complaining how dry the weather was making me feel. So Thalita kindly took me under her wing (with Linda’s blessing) and smothered my face with almond oil then preceded to help me feel luminous and moist by only using creams and glosses on my face. Starting with Snow White, cream base, and then  creamy Vodka blush on my skin she then proceeded to use ALL 4 of the lip gloss colors (Fire, Earth, Water, and Air). Thalita used the Air Gloss as a highlighter on the cheeks, even the Earth Gloss to darken the eyebrows and give them shape (I loved this subtle, but effective touch), Water Gloss (with sparkles) to accentuate the brow bone, and Fire Gloss on the lips. I felt so refreshed! -Laura

Our Nude lip color (buy it online at www.lindamason.com) is perfect for that Brigitte Bardot makeup look. Pair it with a violet eyeliner to make it more flirtatious and less serious.

I was so excited to see Eye Candy printed in Russian and to know that it’s traveling around the world to exotic places. I was more than a little disappointed to see that they had changed the cover photo. But, once I actually had the hard cover copy in my hands, it was still pretty cool. It is funny it’s rather like having a baby, you want everything to be perfect, but once you have it in your hands you’re just so happy it’s there.

I’ve had an awful time these last days. Almog changed my hair color making it a much brighter orange than I normally have. My makeup no longer works and I’m quite desperate… The yellow eyeshadow on my eyes didn’t work anymore and the darker lipstick didn’t work either. I felt like plucking my eyebrows off, but Laura suggested that I go dark brown and wow it works, it looks great. With a bold hair color I suggest going more extreme with the brows, either much darker or take them off completely. Instead of wearing the bright orange I normally wear on my lips, I put it onto to my eyes. I haven’t been wearing blush for quite some time now, but I’ve used a coral to match my lip color which I liked then I added a touch of orange to it and changed my lip color to something a little deeper and more muted (lipstick Jane). I’m feeling better already!

The Japanese company Cuore visited me again this December for a seminar, it was good to see them. We had a funny moment when I was talking about a lot of celebrities I had worked with, but saw blank faces and realized that I wasn’t giving a makeup lesson, but a history lesson… They definitely enjoyed the demonstration as they were not eager to leave at the finishing time of 12pm.

On October the 1st I posted Thalita, Zoe and Erin with the mini masterpieces they had chosen. Here now is another mini masterpiece collector who came in this month from Los Angeles to revamp her compacts. She happens to be a very close friend, originally from my hometown in England, we are often mistaken for sisters and I feel like she is one. You can see in this photo that even though we’ve renewed some colors, the kits are well used. She is a true Gemini, versatile and able to wear lots of different colors.

At my last makeup class the artists Anastasia and Jamie were so good that I decided to do a photo shoot on the editorial makeup day as well as the photo shoot day. That is the luxury of having a small class , and being able to do the photography, you can stay flexible. Natalie Gelman  in town from Los Angeles where she is working on a new CD made herself available and Natalie Peyton happily happens to be a neighbor who is an actress. While Natalie was in town I was able to go to hear her sing her new songs at the Bitter End. Watch out for her new CD if it is half as good as her singing and the songs that night then it will be fabulous. What I love about her is the fact that her songs are truly about her life   as a native New York Villager .
