Dream Extreme

We had fun this week making a gift box for Dream Extreme’s silent auction to benefit STEPS to End Family Violence. Inside the gift box are two mini masterpieces, extra colors for the masterpieces, a brush set, and creams for under eye circles. The benefit is this weekend September 16-18 in East Hampton and includes a beachside bash, kiteboarding clinic, a dinner dance party and more! Feather Earring Makeup

Big, bold accessories are in this season, and feather earrings are the newest trend; we are going to show you how to wear your makeup to complement them! Thalita did Zoe’s makeup to go with her new feather earrings; she kept Zoe’s look natural, earthy, and pristine – the way nature is without intervention.

Here are Linda Mason’s products that were used on Zoe:

Face: Earth 2 base, Earth concealer, Bronze blush, Driftwood blush
Eyes: Chocolate, Brown Earth, Mushroom, Red Earth shadows; Earth liner
Lips: Gold lipstick

Penhaligon’s New Perfume ‘Juniper Sling’

There was a lot of excitement in the air last night with the start of Fashion Week and lots of events happening. Daisy is helping with the launch of the new perfume Juniper Sling from Penhaligon’s at Saks Fifth Avenue. As you can see from the photo, the perfume is roaring 20’s-inspired, like the makeup we did on Daisy for the event – perfect for a wild night out!

Bright Young Things at Mina’s

I had a great time last night at the boutique Mina over by Cooper Square. Here I am with Mina and Patricia, the infamous right-hand woman of Irene Albright (my adored friend and Mina’s mother).

A great make up session.

We were very lucky to have a young actress Natalie model for us during the intensive make up course. Not only did she model for Rachael’s photoshoot, she asked Rachael to do the make up for her Burlesque performance inspired by  the Tiger Woods scandal. Rachael did and incredible job, as you can see from the photo’s and we had lots of fun. From Natural to Burlesque

Following your Intuition

Hailing from the west coast, I found Linda Mason’s book, The Art of Beauty at the same moment I was making a major life change. Having trained as a Color Therapist, I now discovered how using color in makeup could bring out one’s inner beauty. Linda’s course taught me to be confident in my innate abilities and always follow my intuition.

Visiting Auntie Linda

This past week I traveled to New York City for the first time to visit my Auntie Linda and take her special intensive course in makeup. I came a long way from Newcastle, England, where I am working to complete NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy at South Tyneside College. This course has taught me a great deal, but most of all I’ve learned how to work with colour. In this photo, I did a shimmering smoky eye, inspired by the colour of my model’s turqoise blouse; I left the cheeks and lips on the natural side to allow the colour on the eyes to stand alone. I am having an amazing time working on the models and enhancing my skills as a makeup artist – I can’t wait to bring what I’ve learned back home with me!

From Kentucky to Queens

Three months ago, I moved from my hometown of Kentucky to Queens, New York to take my career in makeup to the next level.  After graduating from Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry in Chicago, I enrolled in Linda’s intensive makeup course to learn from the legend. The three most important lessons I learned were to be experimental (makeup comes off, you know!), it’s all in the details, and to search and discover each person through makeup – you’ll be amazed at what you find. This is the makeup I did on Libby on my first day. It was fun to see Libby ride off on her bike, rocking her sparkly green eyes!

On a whim and a twist of fate…

A few weeks ago I walked into Linda Mason’s shop, intrigued by the bright bursts of color emanating from the storefront. I’ve always been interested in makeup, ever since I was a little girl and my Grandma Hope would let me watch as she applied her bright red lipstick. On a whim, Linda hired me to help upkeep her shop. However, this past week I had the opportunity to assist her makeup intensive class. I can’t begin to say how much I’ve enjoyed the experience; I learned so much through observing Linda’s work with her students. I had a couple of my best friends come in and model as well, which was a lot of fun. I feel blessed and extremely grateful to have ended up, by a twist of fate, in this world that I always imagined myself in.

Whimsical Makeup to Make You Smile

I stopped by the shop today to help Linda with the blog and was so impressed by Thalita’s makeup. The whole shop looked so magical and charming to me after not having been around for a bit and Thalita’s makeup just perfectly fit the fun and artistic atmosphere. She used a mixture of Red Current and Violet for lipstick and the blue gel liner, Oceanic. Thalita felt like the way she applied the blue to her eyes gave them a “smile” where as sometimes she feels her doe shaped eyes can look sad… -Laura
