Aeroplane Food

I don’t know about you, but I have an awful time opening up these little packages that you get food in on the aeroplane. I have been documenting it when I remember and have my camera with me. This is what British Airways gave me on my last flight. I managed to open everything without squirting milk in my eye or the salad sauce on my clothes. (I should not complain though, I really do just like to be served… and British Airway’s food is better than a lot of other airlines, although not Air France…

A Very Memorable Trip

I had a very warm opening night of my show at the National Glass Centre with a great introduction to my presentation by Graeme Thompson the Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Media at Sunderland University.  It brought me to tears, I could hardly talk for five minutes…

Some of the children I had painted and incorporated into the show were there and it was a lot of fun seeing them next to their portraits. They came back on Sunday to the NGC and had lots of fun, especially with the fabulously colored marbles in the gift shop. I took a video of them, obviously I thought I had a photo camera in my hand…

Off to England for my Art Exhibit

I am off to my home town of Sunderland for a show that I am very excited about that was inspired by the Seafront where I spent so much time in my youth. Here is an excerpt from a writing by the Art critique Suzanne Brancaccio .
“Mason’s mixed-media pieces are fictional narratives composed of autobiographical elements that attempt to integrate her past and her present.  The works on view represent an accumulation of her influences in her life and career, at different times and in different places, joining the long stretch between her life in Sunderland and her life in New York.  By bringing her dramatic, quirky, and stylish visitors to the seafronts of Whitburn, Seaburn, and Roker, Mason addresses her nostalgia for her childhood in Northern England and the temporality of experience.”

Eye Candy Saturday Makeup Event

Wow Laura did a great makeup on Eye Candy Saturday she transformed Gabrielle into The Anime character Asuka Langley Soryu from my book. Thalita did a great 60’s look and Gabrielle did the Cleopatra look; perfect lines, I was very impressed. It was a lot of fun as always.

A Great Documentary

I had a great time last night I went to see a documentary that a friend of mine produced, Jody Shields. You must go to see the documentary “Lost Bohemia” it is so great but also so sad. It is such a crime that Carnegies legacy has been destroyed by Citicorp and  Bloomberg..

Another Cosmetic Maven Has Become An Artist

I have just discovered that Giselle De Bruchard who launched my career as a Makeup Artist by introducing me to the photographer Sammy Georges is also an Artist. A very successful one too, at the time when I met her she was a PR for Isabelle Lancray, a French cosmetic company.  Not only did Sammy find Giselle he also found this great Polaroid  he took 24 years ago of my daughter and I.

What a Halloween!

What a Halloween! On Saturday I had just finished the photo shoot and my pal Cleve came by and I did his makeup for the Susanne Bartsch party. My two new Interns came by too and had their makeup done by Thalita and Laura. Sunday the Japanese students came by before the procession and  we had a celebratory party . Laura looked great as a tiger (more like a pussy cat) and Thalita was a Viking and even made Scandinavian food to go along with her costume!

Makeup Class for IBF Japan

I had a great time and the students seemed to enjoy themselves too. They worked incredibly hard and I managed to get great photos of the models at the photo shoot on Saturday and also a few photos during the week of all my clients and interns who came  to get their makeup done by the students. Next week I’ll put up a short video with clips of the makeup demonstrations.

For these last three photos, the models on the right and left were done by students during the class and the middle photo is of a demonstration makeup I did.

Makeup DVD Preview: Clip-it

I have a great team I’m working with for a video I hope to have out next spring. We’ve been enjoying doing it very much. I had 5 great girls to be in the video, but one didn’t show up. But, Stephanie, the model we shot, ended up being so great, I decided 4 girls was strong enough, we celebrated with a bottle of Champagne. I think we’ve made a really interesting video. I don’t want to discuss the video too much as I would like it to be a surprise next spring.

Laura shot this video with our Flip Video. So, it’s a very rough preview of what we’re doing with the DVD. You can see how fabulous Stephanie is (she is an actress, just case any directors are reading this…):
