Womens Day Makeup Artists Celebration

We have shown the dresses of Jane Wilson-Marquis in an earlier blog. Now here is a closer view of the makeup. Artist Misaki Hara transformed beautiful Gaby on the left using ruby lip color and HD Loose Impacts, and Zoe Rappaport did the makeups on the center and right (Daisy and Thalita.) Thalita is wearing Heidi lip color and solo shadows peach sunrise and red earth. We were thrilled with each look. In collaboration with http://newyorklatinculture.com/ we will be offering 15% off makeup applications today in honor of Womens Day to their readers. Gaby is Colombian American and Thalita and Daisy are Brazilian Americans. Dressing up in Jane Wilson-Marquis wedding dresses and playing around with makeup felt like a good way to celebrate womens day, as dress up is a favorite past-time, and infuses lightheartedness and fun into the act of ‘wedding day preparations.’

Wedding gowns for your personality

Haute couture gowns by Jane Wilson-Marquis can be custom ordered for your big day. We did an impromptu  photo shoot with the gowns during our bridal class. It was made easy and fun by the fact each gown was very different and enhanced the models individual beauty and personality.

Minimasterpieces make us…

happy! We loved how enthusiastic our client was about choosing the colors for her first Minimasterpiece. We enjoyed her visit, and look forward to the next time! Colors like these inspire one now only to refresh their makeup, but other aspects of their life as well.

Afternoon Treat

The NYTimes ‘Neighborhood Joint’ article has continued to bring in great new clients. This lovely aunt came in with her niece for makeup applications. Thalita did a look from EyeCandy that the niece had chosen.

Beautiful Bride

Misaki Hara did three beautiful makeups on the bridal day of the makeup classes. Gaby looked gorgeous in both dresses, and Misaki used HD Loose Impact Pink on one eye, Sand on the other, and Ruby lipstick with burgundy lip pencil. In the center photo the makeup is the coral blush and lip. The eyes were completely transformed for the final photo using Night Lights Aqua and Ocean Foam. Jane Wilson-Marquis created these dresses, and you’ll hear more about her dresses in the next blog!

A great makeup class

Another makeup class is over. It is such a whirlwind I do love being so busy and having such a variety of things to do. What did I learn in my classes?… that Marilyn Monroe’s makeup artist Allan ‘Whitey’ Snyder worked with her for 16 years and became a confident and friend. A great team of diverse artists with great personalities and already showing definite individual styles, something that usually takes a long time to develop. Yael from Argentina, who is an experienced makeup artist already, was able to expand her creativity through  experimenting with color. Once the photos are edited, we’ll show you some of the results.

John Galliano

I was so fortunate to work with John Galliano in the 90’s in London and New York. It was a great experience and such an honor to work with such a talent and a gentleman. (Here is one of the advertising photos shot by Javier Vallhonrat). I was very sorry when his world seemed to come crashing down. When someone’s inner core is really good, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, and what fabulous light to see him working together with someone such as Oscar de la Renta. I look forward to seeing the fruits of this incredible collaboration.

Makeup Classes NYC 2013

Images of classesSee what these past students say about the upcoming “Intensive” class. There are still a few slots left. Schedule here. Beginning January 27th, 2013.
“Linda’s demonstrations are thorough, the hands-on practice is invaluable, and the small class size allows for plenty of individual attention. Most makeup courses teach only ONE way of doing makeup and, as a result, stifle students’ creativity. Linda embraces the creative aspects of makeup and encourages students to find their own individual style. She is a true artist and a makeup genius!” – Jackie McKeon
“There are very few life experiences that drastically alter your life and the way you view yourself.  Your class did that for me.  Thank you for helping me to rediscover myself!” Rachael Brickman

My Orange Sable vs. My Neon Pink Sable

I made an orange sable brush for my Japanese clients to use as a concealer brush as they don’t have such deep dark circles as we do and often just need a slight line under the eyes filling in. It is slightly flatter and less pointed than my neon pink sable lip brush so I use it for fuller lips as it’s quicker to fill them in with color. Although my neon pink sable lip brush allows me ultimate control over the shape.
