Jason came back on Monday with Ivette and April who were looking for some beautiful green eyeshadows. April ended up with both the colors mentioned in the title. They were looking beautiful as they had just had their hair done by Jason. They will be starring in a play later this month at the Gene Frankel Theatre called This Round’s On Us.
I made a new friend while filming the video on the front page of our site. Jason (www.jgkhair.com) is from Baton Rouge, and came to visit this past weekend. Thalita enjoyed having her hair cut, and even though he shaped it and it’s a bit shorter, she can still tie it up in a bun. She was wearing black ebony eye pencil and a nude lip gel in this photo.
We are so lucky that our spring time intern, Amani, asked to come back after her vacation before her senior year in High School. It’s always good to have an extra pair of hands around the shop to keep things looking great. Thalita did her makeup this afternoon to experiment with looks that are perfect for a H.S. senior. Don’t you love her style? The nail polish she did herself, and her bracelet, are fabulous! She’s wearing kingfisher eye gel $25 and metal gloss $18.
A couple of Blogs ago I wrote about Levi Okunov a good friend and fabulously talented designer. Here are more of his clothes on Marisol and Alena who wore them when modeling for my book EyeCandy so I guess they were from his Spring Summer collection of 2007 as Eyecandy was published in 2008. It takes a year from when I hand the photos in till the book appears in the bookstores. This Blog is not really about the book though, it is about the “Benefit” that I went to last night. You may be asking yourselves where is Levi Okunov if he is as talented as you say? We should be hearing more about him in the news? Well for the past few years he has founded “The Teyvah” in Upstate New York a place for mentally challenged youth from the Hasidic community to go to. Last night Rabbi Shmuley gave a very moving and also very funny speech about Levi and the work he has been doing. No wonder Rabbi Shmuley has been elected to office in New Jersey. A speech like that  made even me want to vote for him.
Well Levi is back and shall be designing again, so watch out for him. Here are some more photos, these are from his very last fashion show before his hiatus.
My latest paintings in the gallery now are more reminiscent of when I began painting in the 80’s. Bold partial strokes layered to capture an essence. This piece titled ‘Amy’ is acrylic on linen. Check out our lipstick ‘Sally’ if you like that orange! And the gel liner ‘Hunter’ if you like the green. Together they would make a bright and easy summer look.
Ishbel is a good friend of mine visiting from Brazil. She came to drop off art for a show that she’s a part of in New York this July. I painted her in the 90’s after I featured her on the cover of my top selling ‘Heaven’ Kit. Just last week we found a box of unscreened dyed canvas goods in our storage. We’re so excited by the colors and new condition of them. Now we just have to screen. Drop by in a week or two to see what’s been done. Any requests of Linda Mason screened images you’d like to see again?
Monday morning, I am so lucky, Daisy is back working with me and has my grandson with her. A simple summery makeup coral lipcolor, cream blushes vodka (To give shimmer) and Black Russian. My new mascara topped it all off but I’ll talk about that later.
I fell in love with this dress by Levi Okunov and started to photograph multiple girls wearing it. It’s all about how this dress transforms them, and gives strength and edge to their beauty. This is the beginning of my series highlighting a living designer and a piece that brings out such fierceness in the model.
There’s only 1 DAY LEFT to go see this great exhibit. My daughter, grandson and I popped in on Wooster Street and very much enjoyed it.
